VJ day, Gostrey Meadows, Farnham

On the 15th of August 2015 The Farnham British Legion transported Gostrey Meadows back to the 1940’s with live music from The Glen Miller Tribute band and vintage stalls offering victory roll updo’s and 40’s dresses. The fete marked the 70th anniversary of VJ day commemorating the victory over Japan after 6 years of battle during the Second World War.

A great family day in the sunshine, with great participation from spectators joining in with the Jive accompanied by the 12 piece band. Fantastic fun for kids with face painting, a merry go round and tombola stalls, alongside plenty for the grown ups – beer tents galore!

An incredibly important day in history that can often go unnoticed – well done Farnham, you’ve done it justice.

  1. Well done Meggie although I thought the stars of the show were the ‘Glen Miller Tribute Band’ . Cool music to me how about you?.
